A fashion photographer whose work has been published in Maxim, Playboy, Blazer, People, and FHM, among others, Isabelle Ruen was a literature major obsessed with the arts and fascinated with fashion. Always aiming straight for the top, her first summer job was at Chanel, in Paris, where she was born and raised; a few years later and couple of Master’s degrees from the Sorbonne in hand, she moved to Los Angeles on whim. On whim also, she accepted when one of her friends asked her to take photographs of her, and still photography became her passion.
Since then, feeling like a kid in candy store and claiming to whoever will listen that she is “a photographer by choice and not by default”, she has shot celebrities, some of the biggest names in glamour, and her images have been published worldwide; but her resume also includes numerous portrait, fashion, music and motion picture still photography assignments. Represented by Celebrity Pictures, in London, Newlook published a 6 page article about her and one of her images was just awarded an honorable mention in this month’s issue of Professional Photographer Magazine. She is currently working on her first coffee table book.
